Shimla :Acting swiftly on the opposition BJP’s complaint with the election commission the Himachal chief secretary has ordered the removal of all calendars displaying chief minister Virbhadra Singh’s picture from all government offices and public places .
A couple of days ago the BJP had complained to the EC alleging that the Congress was getting publicity with the state government calendar of 2014 as it had the picture of Virbhadra distributing highly subsidised grains under the Rajiv Gandhi Ann Yojna .
The government calendar also publicises five other government sponsored schemes which the BJP said was offering free publicity to the ruling Congress as the model code of conduct is in force .
The chief electoral officer Narinder Chauhan confirmed that the state chief secretary has been ordered by the EC to remove or cover these calendars as they fell in category of hoardings and banners .
Virbhadra’s picture has also been ordered to be removed from the state government website .
