SJVNL to soon start work on two hydro electric projects in Bhutan

Shimla : Public sector SJVNL has prepared the DPRs of two major hydro-electric projects in Bhutan and work is expected to begin once the central electricity authority gives its nod .

The projects to be executed by SJVNL are Kholongchu(600 MW) and Wangchu(570 MW) . They will be built in joint venture with Druk Greem Power Corporation of Bhutan said SJVNL’s chief R.P.Singh here Thursday .

He said the pre-feasibility report for three hydro-electric projects in Arunachal Pradesh had been submitted .These projects were Ranarandi stage 60 MW , Kameng-I 378 MW and Doimukh project 80 MW .

The survey and investigation works on the Si-river basin in Arunachal were in progress , he added .

Singh said SJVNL’s flagship project the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri project in Himachal had this year targeted 7000 million units of electricity generation .
