Kunzum la pass opens for traffic in Himachal

Shimla : One of Himachal Pradesh’s highest mountain passes , the 15,060 ft high Kunzum la was opened for motor vehicles Saturday after a gap of eight months .

 The pass links the twin scenic tribal valleys of Lahaul & Spiti and is one of the remotest places in the hill state . The region receives received extremely heavy snowfall in winter .

 An official of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) said only light vehicles were being allowed .

 Heavy vehicles would be allowed soon including the lone Manali-Kaza 171 km long route state roadways bus .
