Himachal’s IGMC performs 1600 heart surgeries

Shimla: The heart wing of Himachal Pradesh’s premier medical college IGMC(Snowdon) is celebrating ten years of performing open heart surgeries.

An official IGMC says it has peformed 1600 open heart surgeries in the last decade with a success rate of 98 per cent.

“All types of open heart surgeries including CABG, valve replacement and surgery for congenital heart diseases were being regularly performed.About 25 such operations were being done every month,” the official said.

IGMC is the only state run hospital providing this facility.
