Delhi-Leh HRTC bus service starts

Shimla : The three day long Himachal roadway service from Delhi to Leh has resumed after a gap eight months.The first service of the year carried 17 passengers including a foreign national on its last leg from Keylong to Leh early Thursday.

The high altitude route falls between Manali and Leh passing through many high Himalayan passes. There is also spectacular mountain scenery on the way.

The entire route is 1072 km and three drivers change on the way. This year the one way bus fare is Rs 1400.

This bus service is also popular with foreigners, many of whom travel between Manali and Leh.

The bus will stop plying in mid September due to threat of heavy snowfall on the high passes.
