Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Government on Sunday appointed Brij Kumar Agarwal, an IAS officer of the 1985 batch as Chief Secretary to the Government of Himachal Pradesh with immediate effect.
B.K. Agarwal was holding his duty as Additional Chief Secretary (Home & Vigilance) and was also holding additional charges of the posts of Additional Chief Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Financial Commissioner (Appeals) and Resident Commissioner, Himachal Bhawan, New Delhi.
B.K. Agarwal held various positions in the Government of India and Himachal Pradesh government. He served as Commissioner of Tourism, Deputy Commissioner of Una and Kangra, Divisional Commissioner of Kangra, Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies, Secretary Information Technology to the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
He also served as General Manager of Food Corporation of India in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh and Joint Secretary of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
Agarwal hails from Uttar Pradesh and will retire on 30 June 2021.
