NGT orders report on Rewalsar lake mass fish death

Shimla: The National Green Tribunal has ordered the Himachal government for a detailed report on the sudden death of thousands of fishes at the Rewalsar lake in Mandi district.

The NGT had earlier asked the Himachal government what it was doing to save the fish in is lake. The state government had prepared a Rs 7 crore plan for the cleaning,desilting and upkeep of the lake. But the plan hasn’t been implemented for the last one year.

Over the years other experts have also expressed concern about the condition of the lake and the threat posed to fish here but the state government has ignored these warnings.
