Himachal’s first AIIMS to come up at Bilaspur
Shimla :The Himachal Pradesh government on Friday decided to allot 200 acres of land in Bilaspur for setting up its first All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS).
The state cabinet justified this location saying this place is close to five adjoining districts.
The state health minister Kaul Singh had met the former union health minister Harshvardhan some months ago and was assured of an AIIMS if the state government provided land.
With the taking over of JP Nadda as the union health minister last month it became quite apparent that Bilaspur will be the location for AIIMS as Nadda hails from Bilaspur.
ShimlaThe union budget this year had announced the first Indian Institute of Management (IIM) for Himachal. The state government has already decided to provide land to set up an IIM in Sirmaur district’s Dhaula Kuan.
The cabinet also decided to revise the service length of the Parent Teachers Association(PTA) teachers from eight to seven years.
Now their services will be taken on contract basis after they complete seven years of continuous service instead of eight .
There are over 6300 PTA teachers in the hill state. They have been protesting in recent years asking for their services to be regularised.
PTA teachers are appointed by parents and teachers associations to teach in schools and colleges.
