Godrej eyes big growth in small towns
Small towns may account for Godrej Interio’s half furniture sales in the next three to five years , a top company official said here Friday .
This growth is expected to be particularly robust in 2 and 3 tier towns of northern India .
“Currently small towns account for 30 per cent of our sales,”said Bedraj Tripathy , senior general manager, Godrej .
Asked about how the company had been affected an established brand like Godrej by foreign and domestic players Tripathy said the market had become very competitive in the recent years.
“But despite the competition our market share has grown from 12 per cent to 18 per cent since 2010 ,” Tripathy said.
“Since 2010 Godrej Interio’s business has grown from Rs 1000 crore to Rs 1600 crore ,”he said .
The company also announced its consumer campaign of ‘upload & transform’ enabling selective consumers to get their house transformed for free .
Consumers across the country need to send a photograph a room of their house to the company. The company will then change that house space for free. The total cost will average around Rs one lakh .
Season 1 of the campaign in selective parts of the country has generated a lot of interest, claim company officials .
