President Mukherjee lands in Shimla

Shimla : Away from the Delhi heat the president of India Pranab Mukherjee arrived here Thursday on a three day visit to Shimla .

 He was received at the Kalyani helipad byHimachal chief minister Virbhadra Singh and the state governor Urmila Singh .

This is his first visit to the hill station as president .

 Mukherjee will stay at the official summer residence of the president at ‘The Retreat’ near Wildflower Hall some 15 km beyond Shimla .

 Apart from presiding over the golden jubilee celebrations of the Vidhan Sabha the president will also deliver a lecture at the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies .

 President Mukherjee will also preside over the convocation function of the HP university in Shimla and will also inaugurate the Maharaja Agrasen University at Kalu Jhanda in Solan district .
