Prof A R Khan passes away

Shimla : Teacher , friend and guide of Afghan president A.R.Khan passed away in Shimla’s IGMC late Friday .

Khan , 72 , hailed from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district and had Afghani origins and spoke fluent Afghani .

Several people recall the two sitting together on the Himachal university campus and having long discussions .

In the late 1970s when Karzai moved from government college Shimla to HP University in summer hill , Khan became a close friend and guide of Karzai .

Karzai did his MA in political science , while Khan taught in the history department .

Some years ago when the Afghan president visited Shimla he met Khan . On another visit to Delhi Karzai had again met Khan .
