4 Himachal districts under LPG direct benefit transfer scheme
Shimla : Mandi , Una , Bilaspur , Hamirpur are four districts of Himachal Pradesh among 20 districts under the Centre’s direct benefit transfer for LPG (DBTL) scheme in 20 high aadhar coverage in India from June 1 this year.
For those LPG consumers in these districts who cannot complete formalities by June 1 , a grace period of three months is being given to complete aadhar cards .
After the grace period they will get LPG cylinders without any subsidy till they complete the formalities .
The scheme aims to curb leakages and prevent black-marketing and provide subsidy to consumers in their bank accounts .
Petroleum minister Veerappa Moily said the scheme will be rolled out all over the country in phases .
Under this rollout , consumers will need to have an aadhar number linked to their bank account which is then to be given to the LPG distributor .
As soon as the first cylinder is delivered to such consumers, subsidy eligible on date of delivery will get credited in the bank account .
The cash subsidy on each cylinder will be given directly instead of the distributor while the consumer will get cooking gas at market rate .
At present consumers are entitled to nine subsidised cylinders at Rs 410 each while the market price is Rs 850 .
This works out to around Rs 4000 in their bank account annually while they buy cooking gas at market rates.
This is the first scheme under the DBT platform which is a mass scheme and has no entitlement criteria .
