V C Pharka is new Himachal C S

Shimla :V C Pharka was appointed the new Chief Secretary Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

He will also hold additional charge of Tourism & Civil Aviation, Tribal Development and Information & Public Relations Department. He assumed the charge of Chief Secretary on Tuesday.

Born on 15 October, 1959 in Kinnaur’s Pooh village, Shri V.C. Pharka did his schooling from Government High School, Pooh and graduation from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. He did MA in International Studies and MBA from Australia.

He was inducted in IAS on 13th October, 1983 and started his career as SDM, Rohru.

He has served the Himachal Pradesh Government in various capacities including Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti district’s among other top positions.
