Theog-Hatkoti road work to start in six months

theog-hatkoti roadShimla : The Himachal Pradesh government is waiting for a green signal from the World Bank so that the tendering process of the 80 km long Theog-Hatkoti road can commence by May/June this year , top officials of the state’s PWD wing told the state high court here Tuesday .

Narinder Chauhan , principal secretary(PWD) and Naresh Sharma chief engineer told the court that the World Bank team had visited the state in late January and early February this year .

The state government officials said once they get a nod the bank the construction of the road will start within a period of six months .

The court said the present poor condition of the road was creating many hardships to the apple farmers in the region as they transport their produce on this road .

The court  has also directed the state government that until the tendering process is not complete it should ensure that the conditions of the road do not deteriorate, particularly during the monsoon .

The road work was earlier awarded to a Chinese company but was recently cancelled due to slow work .

Also the court directed that tendering process of the Batta bridge must start within four weeks . And the construction of the bridge should commence within four months from today .
