Sudripto Roy is new Himachal chief secretary

Shimla : Sudripto Roy on Monday was appointed the new chief secretary of Himachal Pradesh , a state government official said here .

Roy will formally take charge of the top post on Tuesday morning as Harinder Hira retires today .

Roy is a 1978 batch IAS officer . He has been DM for long spells in Hamirpur and Kangra districts in the 1980s .

He has also served in the union ministry of commerce and industry , environment and forests , urban development and the textiles ministries .

Roy has also been principal secretary forests in Himachal . A year ago he took over as the additional chief secretary .

He still has more than a couple of years to retire .
