Soon cheap electric taxis for Shimla tourists

Shimla : The Himachal Roadways plans to start cheap electric taxis and buses for tourists visiting the hill station.

These taxis and buses will be available at the entrance of the town at Tutikandi parking.

The purpose is to discourage tourists driving in their own vehicles into Shimla and avoid congestion. They will be encouraged to park at the multi-storied parking here,most of which is empty.This parking was built some months back.

A tourist will be able to hire a shared taxi and go to any hotel or place in Shimla up to Dhalli at a cost of Rs 100 per person, said an HRTC official. These taxis will also ply on restricted and sealed roads of Shimla.

By June HRTC is scheduled to receive its first consignment of electric taxis and buses.

Besides tourists even locals can avail this service.
