Russian paraglider crashes on power cable dies

Shimla: A Russian paraglider crashed on to a high tension power line and died of electric shock in Himachal Pradesh’s Bir Billing.

Nicholai 42 was seen falling by a grass cutting local woman who informed the villagers who then called the police.

Fellow Russian paragliders also landed at the spot but by then Nicholai had died.

The body has been sent for an autopsy and the Russian embassy has been informed police said Tuesday.

It appears the paraglider’s glider developed a snag as a result he crashed on to the power cable.

This is one of the best seasons for paragliding in the Kangra valley.
