Rare arctic goose seen in Himachal
Shimla : The endangered Lesser white-fronted goose has been spotted in Himachal Pradesh’s Pong wetland for the first time , wildlife officials said Friday .
Not only has this rare bird seen for the first time in Himachal but the entire region , experts claim .
It has its summer home in Arctic Russia and Scandinavia. The lesser white-fronted goose is listed in the IUCN’s highly endangered list .
The picturesque Pong wetland lies in the foothills of the Himalayas and is the winter home of a large number of migratory birds . So far 422 bird species have been identified here .
This winter the Pong lake recorded over 128,000 birds of 119 species .There number is constantly growing every year .
