Shimla : The mercury in Shimla soared to 31. 9 celsius Thursday, seven notches above normal . This is only half a notch below the all time high recorded in this popular hill station of Himachal Pradesh .
Most other places in the hill state have also recorded temperatures 4 to 7 degrees above normal .
In the nearby hill stations of Solan the maximum temperature recorded was 37.2 C , Dharamsala 36.6 C , Nahan 38.9 C .
Kalpa the headquarters of tribal Kinnaur recorded a high of 26.4 C . Kullu 39 C and Sundernagar 41 .7 C .
Una town in the Shiwalik foothills bordering Punjab was scorcher at 45.2 C .
The weatherman has forecast dry and hot weather in the state for the rest of the week .
