Lightning kills 29 sheep in Himachal

A flock of sheep and goats were killed when lightning struck them on a ridge in Himachal Pradesh’s Rohru area Monday.

Police said the incident took place in a forest clearing near the town of Rohru some 120 km from the state capital.

The shepherds along with their flock were heading from the lower hills of Sirmaur to the higher hills of Chanshal ranges.

The shepherds are from tribal Kinnaur’s Chitkul region which borders Tibet.

They have requested the state government to be compensated for the loss of their livestock according to the relief manual.
