In 5 years 3835 industrial units set up in Himachal

Shimla : In the last five years 3835 new industrial units have been set up in Himachal Pradesh this despite the withdrawal of the excise package by the Centre three years ago .

The state’s industries minister Mukesh Agnihotri told the state assembly here Thursday that during this period 215 units shut down their units as well .

“In the last five years the state government had set a target of attracting investments worth Rs 48,000 crore but only Rs 13,000 crore worth investments could be achieved  generating 18,511 jobs , ”he said .

“To attract more investors we have now decided to clear projects within 90 days .We are also considering changing the industrial policy so that more investors can be attracted ,”Agnihotri told the house .

In reply to another question the state’s transport minister G S Bali said there are 2059 buses 41 more than sanctioned number of buses .

He said since many of the buses are old they cannot be run on all sanctioned routes .The HRTC has also invited VAT leasing tenders .
