Himachal schools,colleges get new vacation schedule

Shimla : Summer closing educational institutions will now have a 36 day monsoon break from June 25 to July 30 every year in Himachal Pradesh .

The monsoon break will not apply to Lahaul & Spiti district which is beyond the purview of the monsoon .

The state cabinet on Monday decided to implement the new vacation schedule in all state owned educational institutions , a top official said .

A six day festival break will start two days before Diwali and the ten day winter break will start from January 7 to January 16 in every academic session .

In Kullu district the six day festival break will start one day before the Dussehra festival .

In Lahaul & Spiti the summer break will start from July 17 and end on Aug 27 .

In winter closing schools the ten day monsoon break will start on July 21 and end on July 30 .

The six day festival break will start two days before Diwali and winter break to start from January 1 and end on Feb 5 during each academic session .

Schools located in tribal Kinnaur , Pangi and Bharmaur will be governed under the vacation schedule for winter closing schools .

The 65 day vacation schedule of government colleges starts with a 30 day break starting from May 2 to May 31 .

The six day festival break starts four days before Diwali and 29 day vacations to start from Jan 1 to Jan 29 in each academic session .

The vacation schedule of colleges is generally finalised and issued every year along with admission and examination schedule .
