Fire destroys 7 houses in Himachal village
Shimla : Seven wooden houses were reduced to ash in Kotkhai’s Bareon village of Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district Friday, police said .
The incident took place around 9 am when the fire spread from a temple room of a house and spread quickly engulfing a cluster of seven wooden houses .
Villagers demolished a house so that the fire did not spread to the remaining part of the village which has dozens of other houses , villagers told Sun Post by phone .
Bareon located some 80 km from the state capital Shimla is one of Kotkhai’s largest villages .
Only a couple of days a major fire in Shimla severely damaged over a century old Gorton Castle building .
The top two floors of is huge British colonial era building were burnt destroying a large portion of the Auditor General’s office records .
The same evening half a dozen shops were also destroyed by a fire in the Lower Bazar , one of the most crowded parts of old Shimla .
