Eye on MC polls #Shimla water scheme renamed!

Shimla: Barely a few months after Shimla was hit by the worst jaundice in its history due to filthy water the Himachal government has created a separate ring-fenced water supply and sewerage circle called the Shimla water supply and sewerage circle.

The state cabinet which met here Wednesday decided that the new body will deliver all integrated services related to water supply and sewerage disposal.

The MC’s health officer will be in-charge of the water quality monitoring and surveillance and will control the water testing labs being transferred by IPH to MC Shimla.

The spokesman said a MoU will be signed between the state government and the MC Shimla soon.

The World Bank identification mission during its recent visit to the state capital has also agreed that the IPH department will hire services of a sector specialist to draft the MoU /service agreement between the MC and the IPH for ring-fenced WSS services to be established at the MC Shimla.

But many are still asking what all this renaming means!
