Jai Ram urges Centre to raise import duty on apple

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur urged Piyush Goyal Union Minister for Commerce and Industry and enhance import duty on apple to benefit the apple growers of the state. He said that apple from other countries flooding the Indian market and adversely affecting the apple economy.

He also requested for extending Industrial Development Subsidy Scheme as the scheme is closing during the current year.

He also discussed about setting up of Pharma testing lab in Baddi in a speedy manner which would benefit local Pharma entrepreneurs for testing their products in the state itself.
Jai Ram was accompanied by the state Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh.The Union Commerce Minister assured the Chief Minister of all possible help to the state.

Earlier, Chief Minister also held a meeting with the Vice Chairman NITI Aayog Dr. Rajeev Kumar. Members of the Aayog, Distinguished Experts and senior officers were present in the meeting.

The Chief Minister held detailed discussions about its efforts to make Himachal a green state and sought cooperation of the Aayog to achieve the objective.
