Man drowned in Tons river

Shimla : A man was swept away by turbulent waters of the Tons river on the Himachal Uttarakhand border, police said.

The 19 year old was bathing in the river along with his friends when he was swept away on Sunday, a search is on downstream by rescue teams.

After the incident police was informed at Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district.

The Tons is the tributary of the Yamuna river. A newspaper report said water had been released some days back higher up due to which the water was much more than normal in the river.
