Dhammi stone throwing fair injures 6
Shimla:People from two opposing villages gathered a day after Diwali in Himachal Pradesh’s Dhammi and threw stones at each other, six people were injured after which the fair ended.
This time the stone pelting annual ritual ended in ten minutes but by then half a dozen people were bleeding on both sides.
Later people from the opposing teams and their supporters teamed up to dance the local pahari natti.
The belief is for fear of being cursed the villagers must indulge in this annual stone bizarre ritual and expose themselves to injury.
The participants also carry flimsy shields to protect themselves from the raining stones.
Also the collected stones are small pebbles. But even these are can cause serious injures.i
