Hail and Winds clobbers apple in Himachal

Shimla : Hailstorm has hit some apple orchards and even stone fruit orchards in Himachal Pradesh in the past couple of days.

Many apple orchards in and around Deha and Theog have been damaged by hail.

Reports of similar damage have also come in from parts of Kullu, Solan and Mandi districts.

High winds have also caused dropping of fruit in most apple orchards in the hill state.

The state government has asked its field horticulture staff to aseess the damage in two days.

Stone fruit damage has also taken place in the mid hills of the state where the crop is almost ready for harvesting.
