Himachal govt depts can now fly drones

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh State Electronic Development Corporation (HPSEDC) today signed agreements with four empanelled vendors to enable state government departments to procure drones and drones as a service.

The Himachal Government has launched project Governance and Reforms using Drones (GARUD) with an initiative to introduce services of drones across the state.

An official said that the empanelled vendors will provide services of surveillance, surveying, Disaster Management, Agriculture spraying drone and various other services in field of delivery, Surveying and surveillance.  

These services drones will be provided by HPSEDC to all the Government Departments,PSUs, and autonomous bodies through their empanelled vendors at the finalised rates.

Drones can be of significant use due to their reach, versatility and ease of use, especially in remote and inaccessible areas of Himachal Pradesh the official said.
