HDFC Bank opens first branch in Himachal’s Keylong
Shimla : HDFC Bank today announced that it has opened its first branch in Keylong, becoming the first private sector bank to open a branch in the tribal district Lahaul and Spiti in Himachal Pradesh.
The branch was inaugurated by Neeraj Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Lahaul and Spiti District. Commenting on the bank’s first branch in the Lahaul and Spiti district, Vineet Arora, Branch Banking Head (North 2), HDFC Bank, said: “We are committed to expand our presence in Himachal Pradesh and make quality banking products and services available across the state. Our new branch at Keylong is a testimony of our commitment. We will continue to expand our branch network, especially in the unbanked and under banked regions of the state.”
Keylong town is an administrative centre of Lahaul and Spiti district. It is 71 kilometres north of Manali and around 120 kilometres from the Indo-Tibetan border. Keylong is a popular tourist destination and is often used as a stopover by tourists visiting Manali.
HDFC Bank’s journey in Himachal Pradesh began in 2004 when it opened its first branch in the state at Sanjauli,Shimla. Since then, the bank has been growing its presence across hill state through a combination of bank branches and digital banking initiatives. At present, the bank has 82 branches in 76 cities,towns spread across 11 districts of Himachal Pradesh.
