Rohtang Pass closes for 6 months

Shimla : The 13,050 ft high Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh has been officially closed till the next summer some six months away.

The pass has been receiving spells of heavy snowfall since late September.

Although recuse posts have been set up on both sides of the pass to help locals crossing the pass on foot. These posts will remain in place for the next few days.

The Rohtang Pass is one of the most popular tourist spots in the Kullu valley even though it can be accessed for only half the year due to heavy snowfall.R
