Foreign tourists stuck in Himachal’s Spiti valley
Shimla : Ten foreign tourists and two Indians are cut off from the outside world in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul & Spiti tribal valley after a melting glacier washed away a road connecting the Guling area in Spiti .
Local authorities have been making attempts for the past five days but have failed to rescue these people an official SDM Himesh Negi was quoted as saying .
A ropeway was also built Monday across but this was also washed away .
All the trapped tourists were however safe . The concerned embassies in Delhi have been informed .
A request has been made to the state government to provide a helicopter to rescue these trapped dozen tourists.
Officials also said the 4550 m high kunzam la pass has also opened for vehicular traffic after remaining closed due to heavy snow for over seven months .
The pass connects the twin valleys of Lahaul & Spiti .
