Raid de Himalaya extreme cancelled
Shimla: The competitive section of the 18th Maruti Suzuki Raid de Himalayas has been called off with the death of one of the participants in tribal Lahaul & Spiti,organisers said.
But the adventure category will continue with maximum speeds of only 45 km per hour. But the third, fourth and fifth legs of the extreme category have been cancelled, said chief organiser Manjeev Bhalla.
Biker Shubhamoy Paul, 47 from Kolkata, met with an accident near Chhatru in the Losar-Gramphu section, some 70 km from Keylong.He fell into a gorge and died while being airlifted to Manali.
There was a major change of the route of the rally this year.
