Virbhadra invites Tatas, Ambanis to invest in Himachal

imageShimla :In an effort to give a fillip to the dropping industrial investment in Himachal Pradesh the state government has now invited top corporate houses in the country to invest in the hill state liberally.

“Citing attractions like cheap and uninterrupted power supply, clean environment and land availability for setting up big industrial units. The chief minister Virbhadra Singh has written to the Tatas and Ambanis among others big names to invest in the state,” state industry minister Mukesh Agnihotri said Thursday .

“We are now focussing on attracting big corporate houses.We want maximum investment in industry, tourism and power sectors,” he said .

The state government plans to hold road shows in Mumbai,Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkatta in the next couple of months.

Headed by the chief minister along with top state government officials who will make an effort to woo investors to set up shop in Himachal .

“If investors come forward at these centres the team of government officials from various departments with the chief minister will clear the proposed projects instantly,” the industry minister claimed .

The NDA government announced a ten year excise free and other tax concessions for ten years in 2003 . But the excise holiday cut short by the UPA government in 2010 .

During the excise holiday the biggest corporate brands did not set up shop here. In recent years many investors have even begun to leave .
