Land , house deals under scanner in Himachal

Those who have converted hotel projects into an apartment and sold it could be in trouble as the Himachal government has ordered an investigation into such cases across the hill state.

 The revenue department has ordered all deputy commissioners to look into all such cases where land and property transactions taken place under general power of attorney.

 The deputy commissioners have also particularly been asked to look into such cases where the initial land purchase was made in the name a local but the actual money was paid by an outsider .

 These sites are located in tourist resorts of Manali , Shimla , Dharamsala ,Kasauli , Solan , Naldehra , Mashobra , Kufri among other places .

 The state law prohibits outsiders from buying land in the state . Also those locals who do not own agriculture land cannot buy such land .

 Sources say almost 20,000 land and property transactions have taken place. Several of them are suspected to be carried out by outsiders .
