Widespread rain in Himachal from July 6 says weatherman!
Shimla : It looks like the rains are almost here as the meteorological department says widespread rains are likely to lash Himachal Pradesh from Friday onwards .
The weather office has forecast rains in the lower , mid and higher hills of the state from this weekend .
Relief is expected from Tuesday onwards with dark clouds hovering at many places . Thundershowers are likely in some places before the first burst of the monsoon later this week .
The prolonged dry spell this summer has caused near drought like conditions across the state . Extensive damage has also been caused by wild forest fires at many places .
Usually the pre-monsoon showers begin by mid June . The monsoon covers the entire state by late June barring the high mountains of Kinnaur and Lahaul & Spiti which are always beyond the reach of the monsoon .
The state capital Shimla remained cloudy Tuesday and had a maximum of 26.1 celsius .
Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur was sunny and warmer at 27.8 C .
Kullu’s airport Bhuntar was warm at 36.8 C while Solan recorded a maximum of 30 C .
Dharamsala , the seat of the Dalai Lama had a high of 33.2 C . Once again Una bordering Punjab was the hottest place in the state at 40 C .
