Kugti Pass opens

Shimla : The 16,800 ft high Kugti Pass connecting Chamba and Lahaul & Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh has been opened after almost nine months.

Late last week the first batch of shepherds and their flocks also crossed over the pass into the Lahaul valley. The sprawling Lahaul valley js their summer pastures. The pass is also popular with trekkers and pilgrims heading on the Manimahesh yatra.

The pass closes in September due to the first heavy snowfall of the season.
