Himachal raises subsidy on edible oil

Shimla : Subsidy on edible oil has been enhanced from Rs 10 to Rs 30 per litre for BPL families and from Rs 5 to Rs 10 per litre for APL families for the next four months in Himachal Pradesh.

A spokesman of the state government said the country has witnessed a sharp increase in prices of edible oils during last three months due to import related issues. He said that these were beyond the control of the State Government.

The State Government through the public distribution system was providing about 32 lakh litres edible oil to the consumers.

To provide relief to the consumers the Government had decided to enhance this subsidy from Rs. 10 to Rs. 30 per litre for BPL families and from Rs. 5 to Rs. 10 per litre for APL families for the next four months. This will ensure additional financial benefits of Rs 13 crore to the consumers.This decision will benefit over 18.71 lakh card holders .
