Himachal govt exempts biometric authentication fee

Shimla : The Himachal Pradesh Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has decided to bear the cost of biometric authentication fee and the beneficiaries of the state have been exempted from paying biometric authentication fee of Rs 25 paisa.

The fee was being charged by the Department as a biometric authentication fee which was charged by UIDAI from 10th September last year.

The End-to-End Computerization of TPDS operations had been implemented to bring transparency in food distribution, unique identification of beneficiaries and to emphasis on proper targeting of beneficiaries.

A spokesman said today for successful implementation of the scheme the Department was distributing food grain to beneficiaries by biometric authentication through POS devices.
