Cement prices cut in Himachal

Shimla : Cement companies had raised the price of cement recently in Himachal Pradesh have now agreed to lower it by Rs 10 with immediate effect.

A spokesman of the state government claimed that this decision was taken in a meeting on Monday by the state government and officials of ACC, Gujarat Ambuja and J P Cements.

But these prices still continue to be higher in Himachal as compared to neighbouring states despite many plants being located in Himachal.

Environmentalists have for long been criticising the adverse impact these cement plants are having on the fragile terrain of the hill state, besides choking its narrow roads.
