Snow and cold till January 9 in Himachal

Shimla : The hills of Himachal Pradesh are likely to experience snow in two spells followed by chilly conditions until the first half of January.

Issuing a general advisory the weather office on Tuesday said the first spell snow and rain will take place on January 1 and 2 nd and could will be widespread across the state.

Another active western disturbance is likely to affect the state from 4 January onwards and cause widespread snow and rain over the state with isolated heavy snowfall over the mid and higher hills over three days.

Rainfall is likely to reduce from then onwards and light scattered to isolated snow may continue till 9 January.

Due to snowfall during the above period minimum temperatures may fall apppreciably below normal over the higher hills.
