Sukhu made acting Congress chief in Himachal

Shimla : Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will be the acting president of the ruling Congress party in Himachal Pradesh , a party spokesman said here Wednesday .

Virbhadra Singh who recently took over as state chief minister quit as PCC president last week .

Sukhu , 48 , has been twice MLA from Hamirpur district but lost the assembly election late last year .

He has also been the state youth Congress for eight years besides the state NSUI president .

The decision to appoint Sukhu was taken by the party late Tuesday in New Delhi , a party spokesman said .

Sukhu has never been seen close to chief minister Virbhadra Singh . Instead he is close to the rival Congress camp headed by Kaul Singh , Asha Kumari and Anand Sharma .
