SJVNL profit up 17 per cent

Shimla : Power company SJVNL has registered a rise of 17 per cent net profit earned during the 2011-12 , the latest quarter of the current fiscal has also seen a rise a company official said here Monday .

The net profit rose from Rs 1069 crore against 912 crore during this period .

The total revenue generated from its operations also increased from more than 5 per cent from Rs 1830 crore to Rs 1927 crore in the last fiscal  .

The net profit for the quarter ending March ,2012 also saw a marginal increase from Rs 110 crore to Rs 120 crore over the corresponding quarter last year .

The earning per share (EPS) increased from 2.21 to 2.58 in the last fiscal year .

The board of directors in its meeting on Monday have recommended a dividend pay out of 0.94 per share after the AGM gives its nod .

SJVNL’s 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri hydro power project is the country’s largest operating plant . It generated 7610 million units of electricity in the last fiscal .

The company’s equity is held by the central government at 64.47 per cent , Himachal government at 25.50 per cent and public holds the remaining 10 per cent .
