SJVNL forays into wind energy

Shimla : Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd(SJVNL) a Himachal Pradesh based hydro-power public sector company is targetting adding a wind-energy project to its fleet by September next year , a top company official said here Thursday .

“A few days ago we signed a turnkey agreement with Spanish renewable company , Gamesa Corporacion Technologicia ,”  said Vijay Verma , DGM SJVNL .

“Located in Khirware in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district , the 47.6 MW wind energy project will be set up at a cost of Rs 300 crore ,” Verma told Sun Post .

“It will involve installing 65 turbines each 850 KW ,”he added .SJVNL runs the country’s largest hydro-power project the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri project located in the Sutlej basin of Himachal  . The mammoth project was built in 2004 .

SJVNL is executing around ten hydro electric projects in Himachal , Uttarakhand , Manipur , Arunachal Pradesh , Bhutan and Nepal .
