Pashi selected for Oscar qualifying festival

Shimla: Pashi a short documentary film in Nawri(pahari) dialect of Himachal Pradesh has made it to the Oscar qualifying festival, the maker of the film .

“It has been selected to compete at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, to be held in August, 2017 in the U S,” Siddharth Chauhan director of the film said.

“Since the festival is an official Oscar Qualifying Film Festival, if the film wins an award at this festival, Pashi will be directly nominated for the world’s most prestigious Awards: The Academy Awards for the Best Short Film; also known as the OSCARS,” he said.

Pashi is the only film from India to have been selected this year he said.
 
Pashi means a trap in the Nawri dialect spoken in Rohru’s Nawar valley of Shimla district.

Pashi is an ancient concept used by villagers for hunting birds and animals. Siddharth’s childhood memories in his village Dhanoti inspired him to make this film.The film is 30 minutes long.
