Now Himachal to teach English from class 1

Shimla : English, along with Hindi and Mathematics subjects will now be taught from class 1 in all government schools of Himachal Pradesh.

Announcing this the state chief minister Virbhadra Singh said Tuesday this was being done to bring children studying in government schools at par with those in private schools.

One can’t help asking if it was long due why wasn’t this done a few decades ago.

If students in government schools were not at par with private schools why has this taken so long. Did it not occur to anyone to do this long ago!
