India launches LPG portal for 140 million homes

New Delhi : India’s petroleum ministry on Friday launched an LPG portal that will host data on the last mile delivery of domestic LPG cylinders , supplied by state run oil firms .

Currently almost 140 million households in the country have LPG connections by Indian Oil, BPCL and HPCL .

Oil minister Jaipal Reddy said this will empower LPG users through public accountability system .

LPG cylinders supplied by these PSU companies can now be seen on this web-platform across the country ,” the minister said .

The websites are petroleum.nic.in , indane.co.in , ebharatgas.com , hindustanpetroleum.com .

Consumers can now know their individual pattern of LPG usage, booking status, refill history or request for surrender of their connection, highest consumption consumers and subsidy availed.

The information on the portal can also be sorted by consumer number, consumer name and by distributors’ name easily.

To enable the oil companies to improve their services, the portal also gives opportunity to consumers to rate the services of their LPG distributor, thus helping the oil companies to focus on areas of improvement and enhance consumer satisfaction.
