Himachal univ honorary D Litt to Dalai Lama

Shimla : The Dalai Lama who has been living in Himachal Pradesh’s hill town of Dharamsala for over half a century was on Wednesday conferred honorary D Litt degree by the Himachal university in Shimla.

The Tibetan spiritual leader was the chief guest on the 21 st convocation ceremony . The honorary degree was presented to him by the state governor Urmila Singh .

The Dalai Lama and Governor Singh awarded 123 gold medals and certificates .Besides 194 doctorate degrees were also awarded .

Veteran Prof. S.R.Mehrotra was also conferred an honorary D Litt for his contribution in social sciences.
