Himachal gives Rs 1 crore to shooter Vijay Kumar

Shimla : The highlight of the independence day celebrations in Himachal Pradesh Wednesday was the presenting of Rs one crore cash prize to London Olympics silver medalist Vijay Kumar .

Shooter Kumar was also conferred the Himachal Gaurav award . He was also presented papers of one 200 sq m HIMUDA plot at Mandhala , in the industrial hub of Baddi in recognition of his outstanding achievement .

27 year old Vijay Kumar is a subedar in the Indian army and has so far won 17 gold in international events and 80 gold in national events .

Kumar hails from Hamirpur district in the lower hills of the state .
