ADB to fund Surgani-Sundla hydel project

Shimla :The Asian Development Bank(ADB) on Tuesday agreed to finance the building of the 48 MW Surgani-Sundla hydro-electric project in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district and provide a loan of $ 67.9 million .

This was stated here by Takesshi Shiihara of the South Asia division of the ADB after his meeting with the state’ power minister Sujan Singh Pathania .

The ADB is already funding $ 800 million four hydro-electric projects in the hill state under the clean energy development investment programme .

These include the 111 mw Sawra Kuddu , 195 MW Kashang ,100 mw Sainj and the 450 mw Shongtong-Karcham hydro electric projects .
